Sharon's Fabulous 16 Page Journal ala Teesha Moore

This is page 2 of the journal. It had been sitting waiting for a light bulb joke and a rainy day. Fortunately, just before it started raining I remembered that either Pam or I had thought of the song title I ended up using. If you haven't seen Teesha Moore's series of videos on creating a fabulous 16 page journal out of one 30" x 22" sheet of hot pressed water color paper, I hardily recommend it. Finding colored paper for the borders and sticking them on is great fun! That comes after sloshing paint on all of the pages, which is the state I showed in a previous post.
What I've tried doing with the pages I'm working on is using BJD faces from various sources embellished with mostly human eyes, using paper doll clothes and drawing fashion-like legs to lengthen the figures. Teesha said she felt using paper doll clothes seemed contrived to her although she did it on one of the pages she demo-ed. Since I adore paper dolls I wasn't put off by that and am considering titling the journal "Contrivances".
I also am trying to use words from older children's songs or books or nursery rhymes, although I'm finding that a little more difficult to match to the figures. I'm not a huge fan of Create, Believe, Art quotes for every journal page I work on. I think the process of doing the lettering is probably the most difficult for me. Pam gave me a few pointers a couple of weeks ago but I'm still struggling. That said, this is the best lettering I've done so far out of the seven I've attempted.

13 Days of Creepmas with Rick St. Dennis - Day 10

I am pleased to say I have a project ready to post. It's Rick's Creepmas Morning and a lot of us have done or are doing it. It struck a chord for me when I first saw it and I'll tell you why.

These guys have a less than cheerful look about them which we've all seen when the presents have all been opened and the excitement has died down. Nobody slept well the night before and it's catching up!
We weren't lucky enough to have shrunken heads to decorate with but I've always wanted one! We did have the mice and the snakes and it wasn't nearly as calm as this scene as the mice were Christmas dinner for the snakes!! Crazy, huh?
One of the most favorite presents ever was a green doll full of gel and we all loved squeezing it so much we eventually squeezed it to pieces. It might have been the Incredible Hulk. I'm the only one who was ever attached to Teddy bears though!
So that's my boys! The girl represents a friend who spends most Christmases with us and the only reason she took the head off the ball-jointed doll is that they come with out painting (like the one I photographed below) and one of the most fun things to do is to give them a "faceup". Without the eyes in place. So what's creepy???

31 Days of Halloween - Day 27

WARNING: The following images contain pictures of DOLLS. You may get creeped out!! I'm taking another day off from the Witches pages because I really want to publish these pictures on Flickr and know they should be here first. I found this coffin at Michaels along with the paper-mache ones everyone has used. This one fit my smallest BJD so this was my choice. Painted purple, stamped and embellished with metal stuff!! A totally unnecessary shot but I love it!!

Uh-oh! Here she comes!

Showing her with two different wigs because that is just one of the fun things about these dolls! You can also change their eyes, their "faceups", and clothes of course. This lavender skinned doll was produced by Dream High Studio and stands an amazing 11 cm tall. She's in a class called tinies and actually is not the smallest doll available. When I was making the polymer clay ornaments, lots of them were about this size but they were figures whereas this sweetie is completely jointed and posable. Other than papercrafting, they are totally my current passion.

Great projects yesterday from everyone!! I did enjoy seeing so many with one theme (especially since I'm nutso about Steampunk stuff) and thought theming certain days might really be fun!
