31 Days of Halloween - Day 12

When I got the idea for a Monster's Ball scrapbook, I wanted to do one of my favorite things to do when combining digital and hand stamping, which is to print small compositions on gloss photo paper and use them as if they were actual photos - make scrapbooks, whatever. I did want to do most of the work by hand coloring with watercolor pencils. But I hit a snag because the part of the project I was thinking about the most was the story of the Monster's Ball. I realized that story would be told by the photo captions and the photo captions would be less readable printed and rephotographed that just posted digitally.

So.. no shiny photos, just another digital project (sigh) although I did do the stamping and coloring by hand. Being a bit of an old school scrapbooker, I like black pages and photo corners and cute captions but I tried to add a bit of glamour by digitally tearing some digital paper and layering it in there. I think I can tell this story in three or four more pages.

I made the stamps come to the ball in couples thinking it would be fun to pick out some of the less obvious couples but am finding I have more weird guy stamps than girl stamps. Go figure! Do you know the namesake of the scrapbooker? Hey , Kristy, you are right. I meant who is the scrapbooker named for, not who is named after him! Sorry!

Sharon,
I think you have done a great job on your digital project. The digital stuff is very new to me I done understand how to do most of the stuff I see. Love your Monsters Ball idea, great page!
You asked a question: "Do you know the namesake of the scrapbooker?" I dont understand the question? What does it mean?
Peace,
KristyLee

Hi Sharon, (I tried your profile for an email, there wasn't one listed-so I'm writing here)

you wrote---

***I think I saw that paper at JoAnns this week but at least some red paper with webs on it. I like your bright color choices again and if we're sharing phobias, I detest small closed spaces but like snakes and clowns. Isn't it funny what we're scared of?!?***

If you go back to that Joann's would you be willing to see if it is the "spiderman" paper...it will have a tear off or cut off strip on it, and say it there. no one around me has it anymore. I would be sooo happy if I could get some more, if you'd be willing to get some for me...no obligation, just asking.

I am also Clostrophobic...I am an MRI Technologist by profession, but I can not go in the regular size MR Scanners (even when I was thinner) they freaked me out...I had to go in the reg. size once (after finding my fear, and the doctor gave me double strength valium to take, and I asked for a washcloth to put over my eyes, plus I had music( a cd I brought with me that had music to the sound of the ocean---very soothing) I HAD to go into the regular machine because of the type of study it was, they were looking at my IAC's...Inner Auditory canals(way inside your ears) to rule out neuroma or other type of tumor, but neuromas are the typical type...I have bad Tinnitus (ringing in the ears) it is from damage...2 types, years of fluid back up (my sinuses are horrible) and years of LOUD rock music, especially in ear phones. It is very common (high-frequency hearing loss) and I warned my own kids and others, but they don't listen.
Normally I go in the low-field MR Scanner (a lot of people call it open, but that is the wrong terminology...we continue to use it, as lay people understand it)
but it is actually , high-field and low-field...I always explained it to my patients, especially based on what body part they were looking at. The reg. or high-field magnet is 1.5 - 3 tesla (measurement for magnets) the "open" or low-field is .5 - .8 tesla...as you can see the HUGE difference in strength...therefore the resolution and or detail of the images is much better on the high-field.

Anyway, funny, as I loved my job (and miss it terribly--everyday) I hated to go inside it myself, LOL.
and yet, I can go in the attic, and elevators without issue, or drive through tunnels. My sister could do none of this without freaking out. I've been in elevators with her, she holds on to the back wall and back handle, and basically turns pure white and gets sweaty palms, etc, until she gets off it.

Regular clowns do not bother me, but the evil looking ones with the freaky scary teeth etc, do freak me out. Snakes are cool, but if I come upon on when walking outside it does startle me and make me jump back. That is small kind of snakes...there are eastern rattlers out her and other poisnous ones, ...those would scare me.

Nice chatting with you.
:)
